Includes a picture and brief description. The Whitenosed Coati is an excellent climber, using its long tail to keep its balance on branches, and spends the night in a tree. A member of the raccoon family, it travels in troops of as many as 25 females and young adult males generally keep to themselves. The young engage in constant noisy play, chasing one another up and down trees. As is usual among social animals, the coati is very vocal, issuing snorts, grunts, screams, whines, and chatters.
